Tai chi Holiday
Trevor Taylor and Steve Pointer
Steve
has studied tai chi and allied arts for 27 years. Previously, he studied under
Master Mitsuzuke Harada for 18 years. He has also studied Aikido, Karate,
Sword and Staff and specialises in a blend of Crane & Tiger animal systems.
He has been instructing since 1981. Steve is 47 years old and lives in the
Alpujarras in a small olive farm that he has recently purchased.
Trevor has been practising tai chi for 18 years and initially learnt the yang
form of Chen Man Ching whilst living on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. He has
taught tai chi for the last 10 years in and around Orgiva and is a resident
tai chi instructor at Cortijo Romero where he also runs weekly courses. 2
years ago he met Steve and this radically changed his approach to the discipline.
Since then they have been studying and sharing their practice and now feel
they would like to share this with as many and varied people as possible!
Autumn Tai-Chi and Walking Holiday with Trevor Taylor and Steve Pointer
Walk in the stunning mountain scenery of the Sierra Nevada, practise tai chi
in the cool, fresh air reputed to be the best in Europe. For one week, get
out of your head and into your body, connect with your true self and find
out who you really are.
The holiday will have daily tai-chi sessions, learning different short forms
and doing energy work with a partner, and in the morning before breakfast
we will be going through the five elements, wood, metal, fire, water and earth,
to set us up for the day.
The week
Saturday: arrive, evening meal at the cortijo, getting to know each other,
and talking about the week ahead.
Sunday: late breakfast, tai-chi, a trip out to the mountain villages to get
a feel of the area, picnic lunch, relaxing afternoon, tai chi, evening meal
at the cortijo.
Monday: tai-chi before breakfast, walk in the mountains, picnic lunch, relax,

centre, picnic lunch, tai-chi on the top of the mountain, dinner at the cortijo.

and drinks in local bar, relaxing afternoon, tai chi, dinner at the cortijo.
Friday: tai-chi before breakfast, a walk in the mountains, picnic lunch, tai
chi, dinner at the cortijo, party night!
Saturday: breakfast, and then, sorry, you have to go!
The idea of the holiday is to have fun, relax, whilst learning about tai-chi
and walking in the stunning mountain scenery of the Alpujarras. A reasonable
level of fitness is required and comfortable walking shoes/boots. It is advisable
not to bring brand new boots as these often cause problems but please do bring
with you sun cream, a sun hat and a water bottle.
You will be met at the airport with the group, picked up by minibus and driven
along the spectacular coastal road and then inland to the Alpujarras. Here
you will stay in the Mirasol Hotel, Orgiva, only a short distance from the
cortijo. All main meals, except for 2 meals out, are served at the cortijo.
The food is prepared using organic and locally grown produce by our own chef
and there will be a variety of both Spanish and vegetarian dishes and wine
will be served with the evening meal and teas/coffee afterwards.
